Oreck Vacuum

My mom and sister have oreck vacuums and dearly love them. I am borrowing one from my sister at the moment and my favorite feature is how light it is. That 8lb weight really does make vacuuming a lot less cumbersome. You can easily move it up and down stairs without fear of pulling a muscle or tripping over its heavyness.

Orecks are the vacuums that can suck up a bowling ball yet remain so light. They do have compelling commercials and they are also much cheaper than other vacuums. Certainly cheaper than the Kirby vacuum, but a little cheaper or right in line with the Dyson. One benefit to getting an Oreck is that you get the free canister vacuum with purchase of a new regular vacuum. The canister vac is great for cleaning your car, stairs, etc.

The company was started in 1963 by David Oreck. They started with commercial cleaners for hotels and such, but have since branched into household models and other cleaning products.
